Why Wexford gutters fill faster than people expect
Wet winters, hedgerow country and a long coast. Between them there is nowhere in the county where a gutter clears itself.
The wet months never really stop
Rainfall through the back end of the year keeps a roofline damp for weeks at a time. Leaf that cannot dry out does not blow away — it breaks down where it lies and turns into silt, which is heavier and far harder to shift than what it started as.
Hedgerow and farmland put more in than trees alone
Across the middle of the county, pollen from the ditches and fine soil from ploughing and harvest bind the leaf into a mat. A gutter under a hedgerow fills in a season where one in open ground would take two.

What exactly do you clear?
The gutter runs themselves — the channels along the roofline. Everything in them is lifted out and taken away, and the run is checked end to end before we finish. That is the job we quote for.
How much does it cost?
From €75. What yours comes to depends on how much run there is, how far it has gone and how we get at it. Send a photo from the ground and you will get a figure rather than a range.
How often do gutters need doing in Wexford?
It depends far more on what is over the run than on the calendar. Under hedgerow or near the coast, once a year is usually right. In open ground a house can often go longer, and we will tell you when that is the case.
When is the best time of year?
After the leaf is down and before the wet months settle in — late autumn, in practice. If you only have it done once a year, that is the clear that earns its keep.
Do you need ladders against the house?
No. The work is done from the ground, so nothing rests against your render and soft or sloping ground makes no difference to how we work.
Do I need to be at home?
Not usually. We need to get into the garden, so an unlocked gate is enough, and you get a message afterwards with what came out.
