Pure Water Window Cleaning in Curracloe, Co. Wexford

Air comes over the dunes at Curracloe carrying salt, and it settles on your glass as a fine grey haze long before you notice it. We take that off with purified water and a water-fed pole, so nothing is left on the pane to hold the next lot.

What salt does to glass in Curracloe

You live a short walk from open water, and your windows know it. Here is what we find on Curracloe glass, and why we take the detergent out of the job instead of adding more of it.

Salt arrives dry, then wets itself

Salt crystals blow in off the strand and sit on the pane. They pull moisture out of damp air, so by morning you have a thin brine on the glass that dries to a haze you can see against low sun. We rinse it off with water that has nothing dissolved in it, and your pane dries clear. Run a finger along the bottom rail on a dry day and taste it, if you like. People do, and the answer settles the argument faster than we could.

Detergent gives the sand something to hold

Wash a Curracloe window with soap and you leave a faint tacky film behind when it dries. Dune sand blowing up from Curracloe Strand and Ballinesker Beach lands on that film and stays there. Our purified water leaves no such film, so what the wind brings next mostly blows past. The sand is the reason people here notice the difference sooner than inland customers do: there is simply more of it looking for somewhere to stick.

The seaward elevation takes the worst of it

Your front or your gable facing the water will grey over faster than the sheltered side of the house, and we plan the visit around that. We give the exposed panes more rinse time and work the corners of the frames, where salt collects in the bead and stays damp on you. On a house with a sun room or a wind porch facing the strand, that structure takes the brunt, and we usually start there while the water is freshest.

From the car parks at Curracloe Strand round to Ballinesker Beach and out towards Raven Point, this is as exposed a stretch as we clean anywhere. Homes back towards Screen and Blackwater get a gentler version of the same thing. Whichever side of that you sit on, we clean the glass the same way, and you get a window that dries clear on its own. The one thing we would ask is that you not judge the finish in the first hour. A pane here dries from the top down in this air, and until it has finished you are looking at water rather than at the work we did for you.

How a Curracloe clean actually runs

Start to finish, in four.

1

The water is prepared

Minerals are filtered out before the pole is even lifted.

2

Worked, corner to corner

The brush moves the film off the pane and out of the frame edges.

3

Up from the ground

Rinse water travels the pole, so the upper glass is done without ladders.

4

Nothing left behind

With no detergent and no minerals, the pane dries clear by itself.

Areas we cover near Curracloe and across County Wexford

Curracloe sits on a coastal loop we drive most weeks, and a good many neighbouring homes come with it.

We clean in Curracloe village and out along the coast towards Ballinesker, with Screen and Blackwater on the same run. If your house is down a lane off that route, say so when you book and we will work you into the same day.

The round carries on into Castlebridge and Wexford Town, so the whole harbour side of the county is covered in one sweep. Give us the Eircode and we will match you to the day that suits your address.

Book it once, and that is it

The same team each visit, and a spot held in the diary. From €25.

Curracloe window cleaning: your questions

How soon does the salt come back after a clean?

Sooner near the water than further back, and sooner after a windy week than a still one. What we can tell you is that a pane with no detergent film on it stays clear for longer, because there is nothing sticky for salt and sand to key into. Most of our Curracloe customers stay on a round for exactly that reason.

What does window cleaning in Curracloe cost?

A modest Curracloe house joins the Signature Round from €25. Bigger places, extra glazing and awkward access are quoted before we start, so the figure sits with you in advance and nothing is added to it afterwards.

Do you clean the sills and frames as well as the glass?

We do. Salt gathers in the drainage slots and along the bottom rail, and washing only the pane leaves it sitting there to run back down. Our brush works the frame and the sill first, then the rinse carries the lot away. You get the whole opening clean, not just the middle of it. Hinges and handles on a beach road are worth a glance too, and we will say something if we see one starting to go on you.

Will the sand scratch my glass while you brush it?

That is a fair worry on a beach road. We flood the pane with water before the brush touches it, which floats the grit off rather than dragging it across the surface. The soft filaments then work the film, and the final rinse takes it away for you. Glass that has been dry-wiped for years is another matter, and we will look for that pattern before we start.
