Roof Cleaning & Moss Removal in Barntown, Co. Wexford

Nobody publishes roof cleaning prices, which makes it hard to know if a quote is fair. Here is the honest range, what moves it, and where a Barntown house tends to land.

Covering County WexfordFree estimatesFully insured

You will know before we arriveBarntown is mostly detached houses under mature trees, so there is more roof and heavier moss than a town semi. Rather than quote you a small-house figure and revise it on the day, we would sooner you saw the real range now.
And the number holdsWe price from your photos, and the figure only changes if what we find differs from them or you ask us to add to the job. You would hear that first.

Find the one that looks like your house.

Guide ranges from jobs we have actually done. Most Barntown houses land in one of the last two.

Terrace

€350 – €500 Small roof, one elevation, reached from the ground.

Semi-detached

€400 – €600 The most common job we quote across the county.

Detached

€600 – €800 More roof, more sides, more of it out of easy reach.

Architectural

€800 upwards One-off builds, extra storeys and complex rooflines start here.

These are guide ranges, not quotes. What your own roof comes to depends on how steep it is, whether it is concrete tile, clay or slate, how much growth has built up, how we get at it and whether the job needs specialist access equipment. Send photos and you get a real figure instead of a range. If yours sits below what you expected, we will tell you that too.

What actually decides the price.

No mystery to it. These three, and very little else.

Size, shape and material

Square metres first, then how steep and how broken up the roofline is, then whether it is concrete, clay or slate. A simple roof of a given size prices below a complicated one of the same size.

How long it has been left

Catch it early and moss takes a treatment and a rinse. Leave it a few years and it has to come off by hand before treating even starts. That difference is worth a few hundred euro on a typical house.

Reach, and the rest of the house

How we get at the roof, and whether anything else is being done while we are there. One visit covering two or three jobs generally comes to less than the same jobs booked apart.

How we arrive at your number.

From photos, not from a price list.

1. We look at photos

Photos front and rear, plus your Eircode. We work out roof area, pitch, material and how much growth is on it before quoting anything.

2. We work out the job

Then the honest bit. Does it need clearing, treating, or both? Plenty of roofs need less than the owner assumed, and that shows up in the figure.

3. You get one figure

You get one number, what it covers, and how long we will be there. If the day turns up anything the photos missed, you hear it before we start.

Before you spend anything.

Two things worth a minute of your time first.

Guide

Comparing two quotes that are miles apart?

That is nearly always because one is quoting for clearing and the other for clearing and treating. Our guide sets out what a fair quote should cover so you can tell which is which.

Not sure it needs doing this year?

Our Roof Check walks you through what to look for from the ground in about a minute. Worth a look before you spend anything, since plenty of roofs have another season in them.

Around Barntown.

We cover Barntown and Glynn, out through the tree-lined lanes where the bigger houses and the heavier moss both tend to be.

Where the money goes furthest.

Under mature trees the gutters fill faster than anywhere else we work. Done on the same visit it is a fraction of what it costs on its own.

Questions about the price.

The question we get before any other, and fairly.

What should I send you to get a price?

A photo of the front and one of the back, your Eircode, and a line about how we would get around the house. That is genuinely enough. Most quotes go back the same day.

What if my roof turns out to need repairs?

Then we tell you, and we do not clean it. Cleaning a roof with slipped or cracked tiles reveals the problem rather than fixing it, so a roofer comes first. We are content to wait and do the job properly afterwards.

Will you need scaffolding or a cherry picker?

Most houses, no — the great majority of roofs we treat are reached from the ground. Where a roofline genuinely cannot be worked safely from below, we say so at the quote stage and price it openly, so you know what that access costs before we start.

My roof is only a few years old — is it too soon?

Very possibly, and we will tell you if so. A young roof with a light film on the shaded side often has years left before it needs anything. Send a photo and you may well get told to leave it, which costs you nothing to find out.

What you are paying for.

The method, the products and why treatment outlasts clearing alone. The main roof cleaning page sets it out in full.
