Pure Water Window Cleaning in Oilgate, Co. Wexford

Tap water is the reason your windows spot. Fill a bucket from the kitchen tap in Oilgate, wash a pane with it, and the water dries away leaving behind everything that was dissolved in it. We bring water with all of that stripped out, so the rinse goes off your glass and leaves nothing at all.

The kitchen tap is where an Oilgate window goes wrong

Every drop out of your tap is carrying dissolved solids. On the glass, wet, that is invisible. Once the water goes the solids stay, and what you are looking at is the ring where the drop used to be. Hold a marked pane up against the light some evening and count the rings. They will sit roughly where the drops ran and stopped, which tells you the mark is a deposit rather than dirt.

The valley dries slowly

Oilgate sits low on the Slaney, and the air along the valley floor holds its moisture well into the morning. A window at your place takes far longer to dry than one up on open ground. The longer a tap-water film sits on your pane, the more time those minerals get to settle and bond. That is why a window you washed by hand in this village often looks worse the day after than it did wet.

Mist puts it straight back on

River mist rolls up the fields on still mornings and settles on cold glass. Where your pane already carries a mineral film, that damp wets the film, lifts it a little, then dries it back into a haze. We take the film off entirely instead of rearranging it, so the next mist has nothing to work with. This is the reason a hand-washed window here often looks passable on the day and poor by the weekend. Nothing new landed. The old deposit simply got wet and dried again in a fresh pattern for you.

What purified water actually does

We run mains water through a filter and a resin vessel until nothing measurable is left dissolved in it. Water in that state is hungry. It pulls dirt off your glass, holds it, and then dries away with nothing to leave behind, which is why there is no detergent, no squeegee line and no need for anyone to buff it dry.

You will notice this along the Slaney Valley more than most places, because damp keeps your glass in play for longer here. Homes on the roads either side of the village, and out towards Killagoley, tend to show spotting first on the north-facing panes. Those are the ones we do first, while the brush water is at its cleanest, and they come up as bright as the rest of the house. There is a second thing the valley does. Cold air pools on the floor of it overnight, so your glass is colder than the air by dawn and pulls moisture to itself. A pane in that state grabs whatever is drifting. Take the mineral off and the same pane sheds it instead, which is the change you are paying for.

How an Oilgate clean actually runs

Start to finish, in four.

1

Clean water, and only water

The minerals are taken out first. Nothing else goes near your windows.

2

Agitated gently

The brush is soft enough for old beading and firm enough to move the film.

3

Height without ladders

Reach comes from the pole, so the house is never leaned on.

4

Left wet, on purpose

Pure water dries without a mark, so the glass is left to finish itself.

01

Both feet on the ground

Nothing rests against the wall.

02

Frames done too

Sills included, every visit.

03

No need to wait in

Side access is enough.

04

Notice first

You hear from us before the visit.

Areas we cover near Oilgate and across County Wexford

We run the Enniscorthy to Wexford road most weeks, and Oilgate sits right on it.

We cover the village and the houses spread along the roads around it, with Ballymurn and Bree on the same trip. If your gate is on the main road, we are passing it anyway. Tell us the address and we will let you know the day we are through.

The same round carries on into Enniscorthy and down to Wexford Town, with Ballyhogue and Castlebridge either side of us. Houses along the Slaney tend to share the same water and the same damp, so we have a fair idea what your glass is carrying before we arrive. Ask us and we will confirm you are on the route.

Oilgate window cleaning: your questions

Why do my windows spot after I wash them myself?

Because the water you used had minerals in it. They stay on the glass once the water evaporates, and in Oilgate's damp air the drying is slow, so they get plenty of time to settle. Our water has nothing dissolved in it, so there is nothing left when it dries.

How much is a window clean in Oilgate?

A place on the Signature Round is priced from €25. Where your own house lands comes down to how much glass there is and how readily we get at it, and you hear that number before any work starts. Book it online, or ring and talk it over with us first, whichever you prefer.

Do you use any chemicals or detergent on the glass?

Not on ordinary glass. Purified water on its own lifts road film and the mineral haze, and detergent would only leave a residue for the next shower to streak. Where something needs more than water, we will tell you what we plan to use and why.

Will it work on glass that has been marked for years?

Usually we can improve them a great deal, though old mineral etching that has bitten into the surface is a different problem to a film sitting on top. We will look at your glass and tell you honestly which one you have before we start. Etching tends to show as a cloudy patch that does not change when the pane is wet, and a deposit disappears the moment water touches it. That is the quickest test either of us can do.

Do you need my outside tap?

Not at all. The van arrives with its own tanks already filled and filtered, so nothing of yours is left running and no door has to stay open behind us. If you are out when we call, we get on with it and message you afterwards.
