Salt-tinged air comes in off the east and the weather crosses open ground to get here. That narrows the days worth treating on, so picking the right stretch of the year does more for the result than anything else.
Coastal air off the east keeps a film of salt-tinged damp on the tiles, and hedgerow pollen adds to it through the growing season. Between the two, growth here rarely stops entirely. That is exactly why treating it in the right week rather than the wrong one changes how long the result holds.

The longest dry stretches of the year and growth active enough that the biocide works on it properly. On exposed ground this is comfortably the best time to treat.
Gutters and anything that becomes a problem once the weather turns. Treatment gets harder as the dry hours shorten, so this is the season for taking things off rather than putting things on.
Too wet to treat with any confidence, but the right time to have a price and a slot in hand. Booking now means a spring date rather than an autumn scramble.

Photos first, then on site: tile or slate, pitch, how deep the moss has gone, gutter state and which way the exposure runs.
Moss off by hand where it is thick, then biocide at low pressure matched to the tile. On open ground we watch the wind as closely as the forecast.
Gutters cleared of everything we brought down, access swept, and a note of anything on the roofline worth an eye on.

The figure for your house depends on its area and pitch, on concrete, clay or slate, on how much has grown and how long it has been there, on how we reach the roof and on whether access equipment is required. Everything is priced from photographs, and if your roof falls outside these ranges you will hear that before anything is agreed.

Concrete takes a firmer approach than clay, and old natural slate wants the gentlest handling of the lot. We work to suit the material, and how long that careful work takes is what the figure is built on.
It is not how much of the roof is green, it is how deep it has gone. A film across the whole roof can be quicker than a heavy band of moss along two courses of tile.
Whether the whole roof can be worked from the ground, and whether gutters, panels or render are going on the same visit. Everything that shares the trip shares the cost of getting set up.

Mostly about weather, and fairly.
A typical house is a day, often less. Where moss has to be lifted off by hand first it takes longer, and a straight treatment is quicker again. We tell you which of the two yours is when we quote, so the day is yours to plan.
No, and be wary of anyone who does — growth returns wherever conditions suit it. The honest question is how long, and a cleared and treated roof holds for twelve months or more, longer again on anything that gets some sun. We will tell you roughly when it is worth another look, and most people find that is a good deal further off than they expected.
Most houses, no — the great majority of roofs we treat are reached from the ground. Where a roofline genuinely cannot be worked safely from below, we say so at the quote stage and price it openly, so you know what that access costs before we start.
Very possibly, and we will tell you if so. A young roof with a light film on the shaded side often has years left before it needs anything. Send a photo and you may well get told to leave it, which costs you nothing to find out.
