Roof, Gutter & Exterior Cleaning in Castlebridge, Co. Wexford

Where the river meets the harbour, the damp gets at the whole house rather than the roof alone. Treating the outside as one job — tiles, gutters and walls together — is what actually brings a place like this back.

It is one problem wearing three facesHarbour and river moisture greens the tiles, darkens the render and keeps the gutter line wet. That reads as three separate complaints. All three come from the one damp, and all three are best dealt with together.
Half a house looks worse than noneA gleaming roof over tired render draws the eye straight to the render. Doing the lot at once is the difference between a house that looks cleaned and a house that looks right.

Why two jobs together beat two jobs apart.

Nothing clever behind it. You simply stop paying three times over for the same half hour.

Booked separately

Arriving, unloading, sheeting down and running out hose happens before any actual work does. Spread across three bookings, that same half hour is charged three times.

One arrival, one set-up, and then straight through the three jobs in order. Everything after the first half hour is spent on the house rather than on getting ready for it.

Two or three jobs on one visit usually comes in below the same list booked one at a time. Most houses are finished in the one visit.

How the afternoon runs.

Top of the house downwards, so nothing lands on finished work.

1. Start at the ridge

We begin at the ridge and work down the tiles. Everything loosened up there has to fall somewhere, and it falls into the gutters, so they are dealt with after, never before.

2. Down to the gutter line

Gutters and downpipes emptied of what the roof has just shed, then run through to check the water actually goes where it is meant to. Near the harbour that is worth confirming rather than assuming.

3. Finish at the walls

Render and boundary walls last of all, softwashed from ground level with nothing left overhead to drop onto them. By the time we pull away the whole outside of the house has been dealt with in one go.

Two things worth a minute first.

Both free, and both likely to save you money.

Guide

How often should gutters really be cleared?

Close to water the answer is more often than most people assume, and it changes again with what overhangs them. The guide sets out what is realistic in an Irish climate.

How many times a year

Are the walls worth adding?

The Render Check runs through what to look for from the ground in about a minute, so you can decide about the walls before you ask anyone for a price.

Questions about doing it all at once.

Mostly practical ones about the day itself.

Do the gutters get blocked by all this?

They would, if we walked away and left it. Everything taken off a roof ends up in the gutter line, so clearing them is part of finishing the job properly. If a downpipe is already blocked before we arrive, you hear about it up front.

Does cleaning solar panels actually make a difference?

Dirt, algae film and bird mess all sit between the light and the cell, so clean glass gives a panel the best chance of doing what it was installed to do. It is inexpensive to add while we are already up there, which is why most people do.

Can you do the walls at the same time?

Yes, and it is the sensible way round to do it. Render and roof carry the same growth, and doing both while we are set up costs a good deal less than two separate visits. The walls are softwashed from the ground.

How do I get a figure for my own roof?

Send two photographs from the ground and tell us where you are. We work out area, pitch and how far the growth has gone from those, and you get a proper number rather than a range.

What each job involves.

The main roof cleaning page goes through the method, the products, and how we decide between clearing and treating.

More than the roof?

Mention it with the photos. A combined visit comes to a good deal less than the same list booked separately, and most houses are done inside the one visit.
